Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I love to make it extra special by carving a pumpkin. It might seem like something you can only do as a kid, but there's no reason you can't carve a pumpkin as an adult! With these free printable pumpkin carving stencils, anyone can carve an awesome jack-o-lantern that will impress your friends and family - all without breaking the bank on expensive tools.
There are witches, ghosts, skeletons, Frankenstein, spiders, vampires, monsters and just traditional jack-o-lantern faces in this PDF printable. There are so many pumpkin carving ideas in this printable, you will want to try them all! I suggest working on them before Halloween night to give you a chance to go through all the options. Don't forget to put them on your front porch with a few tea candles in them!
These DIY pumpkin carving stencils are for any skill level whether you are a beginner or an expert, you'll find something for you! Lets jump into these Free Printable Pumpkin Carving Stencils PDF!
To use the stencil, all you have to do is print them, then trace it onto your pumpkin with a pen or marker. Make sure you push extra hard when tracing the template so it indents onto the pumpkin. Then, using small carving tools like an X-Acto knife or craft knife, cut away the parts of your pumpkin that are not part of the design. It’s best to go slow and take care when carving pumpkins so you don’t accidentally cut yourself or make any mistakes.
If you want to make it even easier.. cut out the blacked out portions of the printable stencils and then draw on the inside of the stencil onto the pumpkins as shown in the photos below using a permanent marker. Then cut out according to your stencil tracing.
Once you have finished cutting out your design, your pumpkin will be ready for its finishing touches! You can use acrylic paints in different colors to paint over any exposed parts of your pumpkin (even if they aren't part of a pattern). When painting with acrylics on a carved surface like this one, it's important not to touch up areas where there is already paint applied because doing so might cause it to bleed into other areas unintentionally.
