Blenders get a lot of hype, and I’ve had my share ofboth good and bad ones so I wanted to see if you could get a great blender that lives up to some of the higher end ones without spending those big bucks.

What comes with the OsterPro 1200

Included is:

 • Stainless steel slicing disc
 • Chopping blade

The blender jar is not glass, it is a plastic type material. I don’t mind this all too much, but I do prefer a glass jar for those times I am making something hot.

Note: All of the parts of the Oster 1200 blender BPA free, and the cups/bowls, as well as blades, are dishwasher safe.

Lightweight

The Oster Pro packs a powerful punch, yet is lightweight. I was actually quite surprised at how light the base was. I’ve had another brand before that had suction cups on the bottom of the base because it was so heavy (and loud).

Noise Level

This one is loud (as most blenders are), but it really isn’t bad compared to others I’ve had. The sound really hasn’t bothered me at all while using this.

Ease of Use

This blender was incredibly easy to use. In fact, the smart settings make it super simple to blend up just about anything without having to think about it. The only thing I noticed was that there wasn’t a soup setting. Not that all blenders have that setting, I just was making soup and started looking for a button that would save me the trouble of deciding which setting to use.

For my Easy Butternut Squash Soup, all I ended up doing was starting out on Low Speed, then moving up to Medium once I was sure nothing was going to splash out the top and burn me. It worked like a charm and my soup was ready in minutes!

The smart buttons that are included are Green/Frozen Smoothies, Food Chop/Salsa, and Milkshakes. For any other items, you simply use the Low, Medium, or High speeds as it fits, or you can also use the Pulse option. Once you get going it is actually really easy to figure out.

Ease of Cleaning

My husband is the one most worried about this, probably because he usually does the dishes. 🙂

One thing that I didn’t really think about until trying this blender, is that the base is removable. The blade housing unscrews and this makes it much easier to really clean all the components. In blenders I’ve previously owned, the bottom did not come off so I didn’t even realize this was an available option – but I love it!

The biggest thing I noticed with the blender jar is that there are little drainage holes in the bottom part. This is an amazing feature because if you put it in the dishwasher, it isn’t going to be full of water once the dishwasher is done (I’m sure you’ve been there before).

Pros/Cons

For me, the pros are that it is lightweight, it includes both a blender bowl and food processing bowl so I’m saving space in mysmall kitchen by not having to have two separate appliances, and the big one for me is that it crushes ice just like the big dogs.

The cons are that the blender jar is a plastic material. I’d prefer glass, however, I’ve only had the blender for a few weeks now so I may update this to a pro if I find that it holds up well over time.

Another con, though, is that some of the plastic parts don’t feel well made. One example is the food processing blade. The bit of plastic that the blade is housed in feels sort of flimsy. I’m hoping it holds up and my fears will be put to rest, but I simply need more time with the product.

Overall a great product at a great price. This Blender is one I’d recommend.

High Quality or Just Another Cheap Blender?

While this model is brand new to the market, the previous version of this same blender gets great reviews, and people are in love with the overall quality for the price. I’ve had other Oster products in the past, including this Oster Hand Mixer that I absolutely love, but how does the Oster Pro 1200 Plus Food Processor rate?

Since this product not only has a blender jar but also a food processor, the price point for getting two appliances in one is reasonable. But the best part is that it actually works really well, and does what some of the pricier products out there can do.

If you are looking for a blender that can withstand some heavy use, crush ice, make smoothies for healthier living, then look no further.

My Bottom Line Thoughts

I highly recommend the Oster Pro 1200 Plus Food Processor to anyone who wants a versatile kitchen appliance that can be used for a number of things such as making baby food, co*cktails, shredding vegetables, making smoothies, salsa, and almost anything else that requires heavy duty blending.Oster Pro 1200 Blender Review with Free Recipe Guide | Mommy Bunch (11)

Having an appliance that does two jobs is an amazing benefit, especially if you are already short on storage space.Oster Pro 1200 Blender Review with Free Recipe Guide | Mommy Bunch (12)

A good blender and food processor is an important investment for any modern kitchen. A low-quality, poorly made device can be more hassle than it is worth because it will be difficult to clean and care for, and not particularly effective. You won’t have any of those issues with the Oster.

If you are struggling to justify the price of some of the highest-end blenders, this is a really great compromise because you aren’t sacrificing quality, and it can do everything that most people would ever want to do with a blender or food processor.

Butternut Squash Soup Recipe

I just made this amazing butternut squash soup trying to use up some of the seasonal squash we are given every year, and it was amazing! The blender did a great job and the soup tasted really good – even if you don’t normally like eating squash by itself, this soup is one you might like!
