How many diapers of each size should I stockpile? ›

You don't need to change the diaper every time it's a little bit wet (unless your little one is struggling with a diaper rash), but putting on a fresh diaper as a part of their nap and bedtime routine is a good guideline to follow!

Diapers that are too big, too small, or just have a poor fit will cause diapers to leak. If your baby is too small, the diaper may not tuck tightly around his/her waist & legs, leaving gaps for pee to leak out. One-size diapers usually don't start fitting well until babies are at least 9-10 lbs.

Just like with any other raffle, tickets are drawn, and the guest whose name is on the ticket wins a prize. There's no hard-and-fast rule on how many prizes there should be, but it's not a bad idea to have multiple winners if you have a lot of guests.

If you have enough storage space, we recommend registering for size 3 as well, which should last you through your baby's first birthday. We don't recommend registering for diapers above size 3, since your little one likely won't be wearing size 4 and beyond until after their first birthday.

Size 2 (12-18 pounds): These are commonly used by babies 3 to 8 months old, who produce eight or nine dirty diapers each day. Expect to buy anywhere from three to five boxes, with 142 diapers in each one. Size 3 (16-28 pounds): Now's the time when stockpiling starts to come in handy.

Newborns can see contrast between black and white shapes. The first primary color they are able to distinguish is red. This happens in the first few weeks of life. Babies can start to notice differences in shades of colors, particularly between red and green, between 3 and 4 months old.

You'll need to change your newborn's diaper about every 3 hours during those first few weeks, including overnight. Of course, if your newborn has a poopy diaper, they should be cleaned and changed as soon as possible. As your newborn gets a little older, they can go longer between diaper changes.

If you know they'll wake up soon, you can wait to change their poopy diaper, but if it's early into a sleep you may want to change them to reduce the risk of diaper rash. If your baby already has a diaper rash and poops during sleep, it's often recommended to change them right when you notice so it doesn't worsen.
