When I heard that people were making Taylor Swift friendship bracelets to trade with other Swifties at the ERAS tour, I had to get in on it.

The tradition was started based on the song "You're On Your Own, Kid," which includes the line "Somakethefriendshipbracelets."

It was even more fun to make the friendship bracelets than I thought.

How to Make Taylor Swift Friendship Bracelets

Materials Needed

• Seed beads
• Seed Beads (From Walmart)
• Elastic Cord
• Alphabet Beads
• E6000 Adhesive(optional)
• Scissors
• Felt (optional)

Friendship Bracelet Tutorial

• Pick out beads and create color schemes that match the song or album that will inspire your Taylor Swift friendship bracelets. (I have over 250 ideas for words or phrases to put on bracelets below.)

• Next, find the letter beads needed to spell out song titles, lyrics, or phrases.
• Lay out a piece of felt to put your beads on, it will help them to stay put rather than roll off of the table.

• Measure your wrist and add 2 or 3 inches to each side of the length. Pre-stretch and cut the elastic cord.
• Tie a double knot on one end of the elastic cord and add beads.

How to Tie a Friendship Bracelet

• Tie a strong triple knot after adding beads and phrases, to secure the bracelet.
• Brush a little bit of E600 glue on each side of the knot. Allow the glue to dry before putting the bracelet on your wrist. This strong glue will keep the knot from coming undone.
• Snip the tails off of the extra elastic cord after you have checked the knot is secure.

Above is a photo of the back of my bracelets, you can not see the knots. I wore these bracelets for multiple days and these are very sturdy once they are knotted and glued!

Friendship BraceletPro Tips

• Pre-stretch the elastic cord before you begin beading. Holding one end of the cord and pull it between your thumb and forefinger of your other hand, to gently stretch it. Repeat this three or four times. This ensures the cord will not stretch and lengthen after you have beaded the bracelet.
  
• It's good to have some extra string space for the bracelet, you don't want to make it too tight.
  
• Make bracelets to fit many wrist sizes if making friendship bracelets to trade at the ERAS tour. As with any group of people, Swifties come in all shapes and sizes!
  
• Make some friendship bracelets that you know kids and tweens will like, and those you can make smaller in size.
  
• Similarly, make some that will fit larger wrists. Everyone should be able to take part in bracelet trading!
  
• Lay out a piece of felt to put your beads on, it will help them to stay put rather than roll off of the table.
